Instructor: Amanda Chisholm — Vice President, Real Estate Services for MassDevelopment and Ralph Willmer, FAICP, Principal Planner for the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC)

This training course will provide participants with an introduction to the basic principles and practices of planning. Participants will learn about different fields of planning. It is a 101 introductory training that is geared towards people who are not currently practicing planners (CDC’s, nonprofits, and those whose professions intersect with planning).

Participants will have an opportunity to participate in interactive activities where they will get to try their hand at planning, including reviewing community input, analyzing demographic and market data, and formulating recommendations for how a community can meet their planning goals. Participants will also be directed to additional resources, including Planning 102, which will guide them on how to get more involved in planning processes of interest.
